Lars Jacob Wingshooting at Gordy & Sons | October 7
Join us at Gordy & Sons on October 7 for an evening with Lars Jacob, one of the country’s most experienced wingshooting instructors and gun fitters. For more than three decades, Lars has helped shooters refine a relaxed, instinctive approach built specifically around shooting game birds in the field.
Lars will cover the fundamentals that make a better wingshooter, from ammunition and gun selection to grip, mount, focus, and shooting methodology. His approach draws heavily from the English wingshooting tradition, emphasizing a natural, relaxed shooting style and developing the muscle memory and confidence needed to eliminate the miss.
A major focus of the evening will be gun fit, including why a properly fitted shotgun matters and how the fitting process actually works. Lars specializes in fitting side by side shotguns and will discuss why a shooter’s ideal dimensions can differ significantly between a side by side and an over under. Rather than simply fitting around physical measurements, his process considers how the shooter naturally sees, mounts, and responds to the gun.
Above all, this will be a conversation about shooting birds rather than breaking targets. Lars’ instruction is firmly "Feather Focused," with an emphasis on translating good mechanics and proper gun fit into better shooting where it counts. Whether you regularly carry a classic side by side or simply want to become a more confident and consistent wingshooter, this will be an evening worth attending.
Drinks and light-bites will be provided.
