Early Marc Newton Era Rigby London Best chambered for the venerable .275 Rigby (7x57mm Mauser). Condition is excellent, showing only very minor handlingmarks from honest use. The traditional London rust blacking is in excellent condition, showing very little if any wear.

Per the Rigby archives, this rifle was delivered in 2017. Barrel is 25" long with classic prewar profile and chamber-end abrupt taper. Front sight base is grooved for a hood, though no hood is present. Rear sight is island-mounted with two folding (250yd, 150yd) and one standing leaf (65yd). Sling mounts are of the large eyelet style for use with classic leather thong style sling. Mounted to the bolt's cocking piece is an extremely smart aperture sight that's hidden from view in the retracted position. With a turn of the knurled dial, the aperture rises for use in one of two positions; the lower position coincides with the 250yd folding leaf while the top aperture position appears to be intnded for 400yd. The bolt handle and bottom metal are very faithful to the Oberndorf style, the latter bearing a hinged floorplate. The stock is of well-figured European walnut with hand-done checkering and oil finish over a red Silvers-style butt pad. There is a silver stock oval with initials present on the toe line, halfway between the grip and rear sling eye.

The action is incredibly smooth, the result of careful hand polishing of a premium Mayfair Engineering-produced Mauser 98 action. In the hands, this rifle feels like a magic wand! There is no provision for a scope—which would alter the incredible handling and feel of this rifle anyway. Comes complete in original factory canvas trunk case with leather trim.
