Cased John Rigby & Co .470 NE sidelock ejector double rifle with 24” barrels. Length of pull of 14 1/8” over a black Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad.

Pistol grip with a trapdoor grip cap, Greener cross-bolt third bite, back-action locks, double triggers on a bolstered semi-square bar action, non-auto safety, quarter rib with one standing (50 yards, marked in gold) and one folding (100 yards, marked in gold) gold lined leaves, ramp mounted blade front sight, removable striker discs, raised line cocking indicators, beaded pancake cheek piece for a right handed shooter, rear sling swivel, extended top and bottom straps, initials in gold on the trigger guard, drop points, checkered wrist and forend with mullered borders, Deeley latch forend release. Gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the safety catch. Makers name, in gold, on both sides. Top rib read “John Rigby & Co.” in gold and “PASO ROBLES, CA” and the quarter rib reads “.470 NE” in gold. Gold inlaid double R Rigby trademark on the trapdoor grip cap. The rifle is housed in a makers aluminum case lined with blue velour fabric, maker’s name both inside and outside the case, and a gun sock with makers’ name. The rifle was proofed at the Suhl proof house in Germany. The barrel flats show proof year code “AA” for the year 2000.

Adorned with medium scroll and a very nicely executed buffalo vignette on the underside. Case color hardened action and blued furniture. Exhibition grade walnut stock. Excellent overall condition. Stock and forend in excellent condition with hardly any little sign of field use. The checkering remains crisp and clean. Near flawless bluing on barrels and excellent bores with sharp and crisp lands. Top lever right of center, on face, and ejectors in time. The .470 Nitro NE delivers devastating stopping power and deep penetration, making it one of the most trusted and effective all-around cartridges for Africa’s dangerous game.
