Used Holland & Holland Royal side by side 12 bore pair with 28” barrels. The guns are choked improved cylinder and modified. Length of pull of 14 7/8” to a checkered thin black synthetic butt plate.

Straight hand grip, double triggers on a square bar action with 7-pin hand detachable locks, ejectors, auto-safety, smooth concave game rib with a front bead, drop points, gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of a small button style safety catch, gold-lined cocking indicators, gold inlaid “1” and “2” on the top lever, rib and forend iron tip, splinter forend, initialed gold oval on the toe line, checkered wrist and forend with mullered borders, and an Anson push button forend release. The guns are housed in a maker’s brass cornered oak and leather case with green velvet, maker’s label, oil bottle, jag, and a two-piece cleaning rod. Circa 1910 guns that were proofed in London with 2 3/4" chambers that measure the same.

This Royal pair is engraved with small rose and scroll. Silvered action and blued furniture. Exhibition grade walnut stock. Overall excellent condition. Pristine bores and excellent bluing on barrels. Wood and checkering remain excellent with evidence of light field use in the form of some scratches and compression marks. Forends of both guns have an inlet repair each. Top lever slightly left of center on gun 1 and slightly right of center on gun 2. Both guns are on face with ejectors in time. A handsome pair of pre-war 12 bore guns with great dimensions and wall thickness. Unusually for the period, the guns are chambered for 2 ¾” cartridges while retaining classic game-gun weight.
