Preater engraved Holland & Holland Royal De Luxe self-opener 12 bore pair with 28” barrels. The guns are choked skeet and improved cylinder. Length of pull of 14 3/8” to a black leather covered recoil pad.

Straight hand grip, double triggers on a square bar action with 7-pin hand detachable locks, ejectors, auto-safety, smooth concave game rib with a front bead, drop points, diamond grip, gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of a small button style safety catch, gold-lined cocking indicators, beaded trigger guard, splinter forend, initialed gold oval on the toe line, checkered wrist and forend with mullered borders, and an Anson push button forend release. The guns are housed in a leather double motor case by the maker with with green baize, maker’s label, oil bottle, oil can, a two-piece cleaning rod, cleaning patches, mop, jag, brass brush, two keys, two pairs of snap caps, and two sets of spare strikers. Circa 1973 guns that were proofed in London with 2 3/4" chambers that measure the same.

Engraved and signed by the master engraver Ken Preater with outstandingly executed game scenes and large scroll. Grouse on the right, pheasants on the left, and a pair of snipes on the underside on gun 1. Partridge on the right, blackgame on the left, and a pair of woodcocks on the underside on gun 2. Silvered action and furniture. Exhibition grade walnut stock. Overall excellent condition. Excellent bores and bluing on barrels with some spotting on the bluing of gun 2 barrels. Wood and checkering remain excellent with evidence of light field use in the form of minor scratches and compression marks. Top lever in center position on gun 1 and right of center on gun 2. Both guns are on face with ejectors in time. A handsome pair of Preater game scene engraved 12 bore guns with great dimensions and wall thicknesses.
