Firearms Compliance Tech:

Gordy & Sons Outfitters is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Firearms Compliance Tech to support our firearms compliance operations. This position works directly with our Compliance Officer to ensure the accuracy of firearm records, maintain regulatory compliance, and assist with National Firearms Act (NFA) transfers and documentation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured administrative work, has exceptional attention to detail, and is interested in building a career within the firearms industry and federal firearms compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Acquisition & Disposition (A&D) Recordkeeping

• • Enter firearm acquisitions and dispositions into the company’s electronic and physical A&D records.
  • Verify incoming firearms by confirming serial numbers, manufacturers, models, and calibers against shipping documentation.
  • Review completed ATF Form 4473 paperwork for accuracy and completeness before firearm transfers are finalized.
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital compliance records to ensure efficient retrieval during audits and inspections.

NFA Transfer Administration

• • Assist with preparation and submission of ATF NFA forms, including Forms 1, 2, 3, and 4.
  • Upload and manage documentation through the ATF eForms portal.
  • Assist customers with fingerprinting, photographs, trust documentation, and other requirements associated with NFA transfers.
  • Monitor and track the status of NFA inventory, including suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and other regulated items.

Compliance & Administrative Support

• • Participate in routine inventory audits and reconcile physical inventory with compliance records.
  • Assist in responding to ATF firearm trace requests by gathering and organizing required documentation.
  • Support general compliance office operations, including document filing, tax stamp logging, and ATF correspondence.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of administrative, clerical, or data entry experience.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Comfortable learning new software platforms and government web portals, including ATF eForms.
• Must be at least 21 years of age, must be legally eligible to possess firearms and successfully pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a firearms retail environment or Federal Firearms License (FFL) operation.
• Familiarity with ATF Form 4473 and basic FFL compliance requirements.
• Experience using bound book software such as FastBound or Orchid Advisor.
• Interest in firearms, shooting sports, or the outdoor industry.
