This is Das Original Mauser 98 chambered in .300 Win Mag, featuring a less expensive and frankly much more attractive blued finish on the bolt and extractor. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped for standard Mauser 98 large ring scope bases, the factory standard being Hexalock quick-detach 30mm rings and bases (available separately). The stocks are made from Turkish walnut officially classified by the Mauser factory as Wood Grade 5, but frankly look much better than that on average! Depending upon wood density, the weight is just over 9lbs.

The bottom line: this is a Mauser sporter made in the continuing spirit of the Mauser Oberndorf Type A and B sporters of the prewar golden age, but with modern refinements like Recknagle scope mounts and 3-position, Model 70-style safeties. This is the epitome of a premium working rifle!
