Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proof marks for .369 2 3/4" with 61 grains of cordite with 270gr bullet max.  Undersides of barrels stamped with s/n. Tube numbers "63229" and "63230" stamped on loop. Color case hardened Beesley-patent self-opening, sidelock ejector action with bolted automatic safety (BOLTED and SAFE inlaid in gold), third fastener, sideclips, reinforced sidewalls, bushed strikers, raised rib tumbler cocking indicators, and double triggers. Action bottom is engraved "J. Purdey & Sons / London / England". Both lockplates finely engraved "J. Purdey & Sons" at bottom. Trigger guard, engraved with typical open scroll and serpentine borders, extends to steel grip cap with tight scroll engraving in full coverage. Straight-grained, lightly-fiddlebacked, pistol-gripped stock of European walnut measures 14 3/4" to end of leather-covered Silvers pad and features shadow-lined cheekpiece, point-pattern checkering, mullered borders, drop points, and engraved oval at toe line. Generous splinter forearm, well-matched, features Anson release and mullered borders surrounding point pattern checkering. Actioner's initials (SW) stamped on iron. Included with gun is original oak and leather case, with canvas cover, lined in red velvet. Maker's label present and in excellent condition. Spare strikers and pair of additional foresights as included.

Comes with 10 rounds of Kynoch ammunition, loading dies, and 75 pieces of brass.

CONDITION: Outstanding, nearly as-new metal finish with very slight silvering of action colors on bottom corners. Trigger guard blacking shows slight thinning. Thumbpiece is lightly silvered. Barrel blacking is excellent. Stock finish shows mild scattered handling marks and may have been lightly refreshed in the past. Muzzles and bores are clean and bright. Breechface striping remains, as does action colors on standing face. Action is tight and barrels are on-face. Barrel drop is very good. Ejectors are in perfect time. Forearm iron very slightly marks action. Case leather is worn on edges with light, scattered marks throughout. Case lining is excellent, showing only slight soiling from barrel flats and one spot at front of action. A very rare, exquisitely made- and finished gun from the end of the Between the Wars period. 34076 SGR
