Cased Stephen Grant 12 bore side lever hammerless game gun with 30” Damascus barrels. The gun is choked skeet in both barrels. Length of pull of 14 ¾” to a ¾” horn butt plate.
Straight English stock, double triggers on a square bar action with coil mainsprings, auto safety, extractor, slightly raised smooth concave rib, gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the safety catch, drop points, checkered wrist and forend with mullered borders, deeply chiseled fences, and an engraved gold oval on the toe line. Gun 1 of a pair with gold inlaid “1” on the top rib, bottom strap, and without gold inlay inside of the forend iron. The gun is housed in a period correct maker’s leather case. Circa 1885 gun with London nitro proofs for 1 1/8 oz loads and 2 ½” chambers. The chambers measure at 3”.
Engraved with small scroll. Case color hardened action and blued furniture with only a trace of case colors remaining. Exhibition grade walnut stock and checkering in excellent condition as refinished. Excellent overall condition. Repaired crack on the wrist. The engraving on the bottom strap had softened. Pristine bores and excellent barrel finish with standout Damascus pattern. The gun remains on face.
