Stephen Grant & Sons 12 bore side lever hammerless ejector game gun with 30” barrels. The gun is choked improved cylinder and improved cylinder. Length of pull of 14 13/16” to a leather cover pad.
Straight English stock, double triggers on a square bar action with 7-pin locks, auto safety, removable striker discs, slightly raised smooth concave rib, gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the safety catch, drop points, checkered wrist and forend with mullered borders, fluted fences, and a vacant silver oval on the toe line. The gun is housed in a newer maker’s canvas case with leather corners, red baize, charge sheet, snap caps, and a key. Circa early 1890s gun with replacement barrels originally proofed in Birmingham with 2 ½” chambers. Reproofed in London in 1989 with 2 ¾” chambers at 3 ¼” tons per square inch.
Engraved with small scroll. Case color hardened action and blued furniture. The action has silvered. Excellent overall condition. Both the well figured walnut stock and checkering in excellent condition as refinished with minor scratches. An inlet repair to the bottom right horn. Some wear on the leather covered pad. Pristine bores and excellent bluing on barrels. The gun is slightly off face and ejectors are in time.
